Soos Krisztina – Contemporary Hungarian Painter

Abstract and mixed-media artworks inspired by color dynamics, emotional depth, and the evolving language of Hungarian contemporary art.

About the Artist: Soos Krisztina

Soos Krisztina is a contemporary Hungarian painter known for her expressive mixed-media abstractions, where color, texture, and intuitive gesture merge into a unique visual language. Her works blend artistic sensitivity with a profound understanding of color theory, creating emotionally resonant compositions that invite contemplation.

Early Life and Education

Born in Budapest in 1976, Krisztina developed an early fascination with visual expression. She earned her degree in Visual Art Education from Jászberény University , later deepening her artistic research through an advanced specialization in Color Dynamics at the Department of Drawing & Design of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

Influential Mentors

Her artistic formation was shaped by several key figures of Hungarian contemporary art:

  • Tamás Konok, Kossuth Prize–winning artist and pioneer of geometric abstraction
  • Dr. Antal Nemcsics, creator of the internationally respected Coloroid color system
  • Gábor Tari, Barcsay Prize–winning artist
  • Zoltán Székács, influential painter whose creative philosophy greatly shaped Krisztina’s approach to harmony, color, and expression

These mentors played a central role in the development of her artistic identity.

Artistic Style and Vision

A Contemporary Hungarian Painter Focused on Abstraction

Krisztina’s paintings are rooted in abstraction, guided by her interest in emotional resonance and the dynamic interplay of structure and spontaneity. She builds her surfaces through layering, texture, and intuitive mark-making, resulting in compositions that balance tension with harmony.

Color as a Narrative Element

Her background in color theory—especially the influence of Coloroid—gives her palette a distinctive depth. Each work reflects a careful yet expressive exploration of hue, saturation, and visual rhythm.

Mediums and Techniques

Krisztina works primarily in mixed media, creating paintings on canvas and hardboard. Her pieces range from small 15 × 15 cm studies to large-scale 200 × 200 cm artworks. This range allows her to explore both intimate gestures and expansive emotional atmospheres.

Available Works and Commissions

Finished artworks are available for purchase, and select commissioned pieces can be requested. Each commission begins with a consultation to ensure a unique and personalized artistic experience.
